The Story of the Slavic Goddess

Sturaki Łado also courted the Virgin. The Lord of the Order of Things, however, aroused terror in the goddess with his bizarre appearance. Łado tried various means to win her over and embolden her - to no avail.
On the Velyansk Rozdmushisk is the perpetually frothy Lake Wichrów, the elongated trough of Lake Veniow stretches nearby, and just beyond it, cut off from the Fuller River by the Krasne Hills range, is Lake Kraswara. Once upon a time Ład managed to catch Dziewanna in that very place. She used to go there to take a bath. As soon as he saw her, he immediately threw himself into the waters of Lake Krash taking the form of a large catfish. However, the goddess turned into a limber snake, swam to the shore and quickly jumped out into the meadow.
Here she transformed into a magnificent, colorful butterfly and took to the air. The doe metamorphosed into a mistletoe and moved on in pursuit. Once, it seemed, he had the butterfly in his beak, the butterfly sat down on the grass turning into a deer. The doe immediately transformed into a golden-horned deer. The swarthy deer fled from him into the deepest forest. Incautiously, she fell between the dense trees that blocked her further path. She could no longer retreat or take to the air. So she turned into a calla bush. The doe, however, did not give up and, as a writhing mighty, many-armed hop shoot, entwined its mistress with its coils.
